Multi-Day Tour

Tours that exceed one legal driving day are planned as multi-day tours automatically — you do not set anything in the request. The optimizer respects the driver’s limits (9 hours of daily driving, 45 minutes of rest after 4.5 hours) and inserts an 11-hour overnight rest where the driving day ends. Whenever possible it places the overnight stop at a charging location, so the truck starts the next day with a full battery at no extra time cost. This example plans Hamburg → Munich (777 km): a full driving day, an overnight stop near Ingolstadt, and a short final leg the next morning. The request is identical to a single-day request — only the route length differs.

What the optimizer did

Day 1 covers ~690 km with short charging stops placed where charging is fastest (low SoC, high power). The driving day ends near Ingolstadt at an EnBW charging location: the truck arrives at 18% battery in the evening, rests overnight, and leaves at 90% the next morning. The final 85 km to Munich are driven on day 2, arriving at 08:10 with 72% battery. You can recognize the overnight stop by its duration: charge_time_min and service_time_min cover the full ~11-hour overnight stay, not only the effective plugged-in charging time (see Limitations). A dedicated overnight-stop field is planned.
